I went to Portobello Road market last Saturday with my partner and we decided to stop for lunch in "Bed". It was a disaster from start to finish. I ordered lunch and a couple of drinks at 3.35pm, the barman forgot to do the drinks and I had to ask for them. At 4pm, I asked where the food was, then again at 4.15pm, finally at 4.25pm and absolutely starving I asked for a refund, but the manager would only refund the food, not the drinks. The attitude of the staff was that they really did not care and my partner told them this. As we walked out the supervisor (who had been sitting chatting to friends) referred to my partner as something not particularly nice. This is all true and I have honestly not embelished. My advice is avoid like the plague.

The first time I went there was on a Sunday night and I was pleasantly surprised to see a real party going on with people dancing on the tables, guys playing bongos and everyone in there seemed like they had just got back from a full weekend of pill popping and didn't want the party to end.

I mean I don't mind that sort of thing as I was young once too but I can see how that may not be everyone's cup of tea.

The decor is tastefully done in a Moroccan style with comfy, laid back seating areas. Candles are a plenty here.

The drinks aren't too badly priced either with a reasonably priced £3 a pint. (What am I saying?)

The second time I went it was a Saturday night and it was a much more chilled out affair..

The clientele on the whole are not too trendy - the people seemed to be mostly young European tourists or the ubiquitous Antipodeans.

All in all not a bad place but when Westbourne Studios are down the road...why go to Bed?
