This bar restaurant appears everything I'd want in an eatery, the interior decor and location are great and as I live nearby I've tried it about a half a dozen times over the last year and I have to say not once have I been impressed. The food fails to match the prices by a long chalk and the drinks menu is severely resticted once you stray off the wine list, largely as a result of organic dogma. This place serves the most expensive pub 'traditional' Sunday lunch in London at 13 pounds - I thought the meat was a tough as nylon! I once came here with my wife and daughter for a Sunday breakfast with a coffee and it cost 30 quid! The nearby Approach and Royal Inn serve superior fare at half the price and you can get a decent pint! Truly dismal - they just can't cook!

I've been to The Crown about 7 times. Fabulous, if somewhat pricey, food- though the pasta is generally a disappointment. The meat, poultry and game more than make up for it! Sinful deserts that really are worth saving room for. Their home made bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil is lush. The starter portions are generous. Good beers and ales on tap. A substantial wine list, if a little light on New World wines. Friendly, very un-fussy and relaxing. Somewhere you can take mates, dates and parents. And how many places can one really say that about?
