Freud seems to have aspirations of faded grandeur, and it succeeds. It is tricky to find but you won't forget it once you've discovered your way in via its precarious entrance steps. The bar is filled with antiquated, utilitarian furniture and looks like a fine art installation. The drinks menu is extensive, fairly priced and suits all needs. The male toilet seems to be an old corrugated bunker. The clientele are the kind of people who have hairstyles to aspire to. Freud has a quirky, curious feel to it but lacks the pretentiousness of other stylised bars.

This is a very schizophrenic bar that has pretensions of grandeur way above it's station. It has a very arty feel to it, with a slightly pretentious atmosphere. Be warned, the bar is very, very small and the clientele do not appear to be the most patient of people.

I find the place rather chilly - both in atmosphere and in feel when sitting in the rather uncomfortable seats. So why come here, you may ask? The cocktail list is extensive and pretty good - they mix a mean Mojito (very hard to find) and I have to warn you that the Long Island Iced Tea is positively lethal (but oh so drinkable).

Don't let the stand-offish crowd put you off experiencing some very lovely cocktails. But definitely a place to stay for one or two before wandering off elsewhere.

P.s. Warning: Freud's has the steepest stairs you're likely to find and they are *extremely* precarious. Please hold on to the rail as you walk down as I personally would hate to fall down these stairs onto concrete floor. Ouch.

Their Fallen Angel is the best cocktail I've had for ages, and all the others I tried were great too. Friendly service and very reasonable prices. Slightly strange atmosphere, kind of interesting but I ended up sitting on some stone steps as there were no seats. The drinks more than make up for any faults, though it seems aimed at a student crowd.

This bar is definitely a great place to hang out with friends. It is easy to miss if you don't know exactly where it is. The drinks are great but the seating is not too comfy. The restroom is a little bizarre as well. It's located the opposite side of the front door in a small travel trailer, which is cool but it was about the nastiest thing I've ever been in!!

This place is weird (and easy to miss). It's underground, it looks shabby and the staff seem to be more interested in themselves than serving drinks. The drinks are good though and not too expensive and the bar generally has a good buzz. Definitely one for young people only.
