Went here with my parents (who are visiting from Australia) last night. Had a great meal - service was friendly, if perhaps a little slow, and the atmosphere was just right.

Two of us had the roast pork loin with root vegetables and yorkshire pudding which was very tasty and just huge! Dad had the calf's liver which again got rave reviews.

The wine list is reasonably priced too with just over half available by the glass which kept us all happy!

Definitely recommended for a quiet few drinks in the bar before a yummy, reasonably priced dinner.

Also known as "The Formosa" due to the dining room facing on Formosa Street, this Victorian pub is one of the finest examples of architecture due to its unique wooden partitions known as snugs. Rumour has it that the separate areas were for the different sexes or gentry and working class. Nowadays you have to get there early evening to secure a seat as this little gem in Maida Vale is vastly popular with all sorts! Good quality wine list with over 20 wines served by the glass, london pride is the only ale but there are a few different lagers. Gone are the seedy regulars of old who have been replaced by a cool but relaxed local crowd. Adjoining the pub is the Formosa Dining Room which offers fantastic gastro pub style food but is far more polished both in presentation and taste. The small open kitchen adds atmosphere to the minimalist dining room as does the music from the pub. They do a great two for a tenner at lunchtimes and the sunday roast is to die for. I have been served by the same waitress the last 3 times i have been, so unusual in london to get that familiarity and it be so impressive every time-they even remembered my name and what wine i like! Only possible criticism i have is book, book, book-its getting harder to get a table as more people find out what a gem this is!!

friendly large rather beautiful ex games room of the pup. Food is excellent modern euro british well presented and seved by friendly and helpful staff.

They have a good and varied wine list at reasonable prices and of course being attached to a pup...! A good way to check them out is to go for the £10 two course set lunch. Portions are smaller but plenty for me for lunch and home made puddings are moreish. I give it 9/10. And think it's as good as any of it's type I've been in.
