Strawberry Moons
our comments
Every Thursday in June 2005 Strawberry Moons is participating in the Heddon St Havana Festival. Pop down for a genuinely fun night, enjoy a few cocktails and let loose and dance in the street. I highly recommend it.Strawberry Moons is a world of events, specialising in Tribute nights: from Queen to Kylie to the Beatles. It’s a good laugh, great for a group of friends who are out for a good time and, later on in the evening a bit of a boogie. I’m told the staff regularly choreograph dance routines which they all perform together, a prime example of the entertaining, friendly team they are.
Starting with cocktails seemed a must as we sat outside listening to wonderful live Cuban music. We sampled a range, including a very impressive Mojito, an average Caipirinha, an interesting but gorgeous ‘Schnampagne’ cocktail and a stunning Metropolis with fresh strawberry puree. All in all the quality of the drinks was higher than average and we found once we had found the right drink for us, the night was set. If you’re not the cocktail type there’s a good range of wines from around the world as well as beers, spirits and soft drinks.
We tasted the special Cuban platter which included Ensaladade Aguacate y Mango – Avocado and Mango salad – and my, was the mango tasty - plus Empanadillas de Carne, the beef subtly spiced and fried sweet plantains with a range of tasty dips. For a theme bar menu this was pretty exciting platter and filled the gap for a night of giggles.
The tribute band playing the night we dropped in was a boy band tribute, and although boy bands have never been my preferred music choice I eventually got up for a dance…and then went back for more. This is a bar to take your friends, be silly and leave far too late in the evening but with a smile on your face.
